Høje-Taastrup Municipality is located in the Greater Copenhagen region of Denmark and is home to approximately 62,000 residents. As a major transport and business hub, the municipality attracts thousands of daily commuters travelling to workplaces, business parks and industrial areas across the municipality.
Høje-Taastrup is committed to becoming climate neutral by 2045 and reducing transport-related CO₂ emissions by 50% by 2030. Sustainable mobility is a key priority, supported by 166 km of cycling infrastructure, a direct cycle superhighway connection to Copenhagen and excellent public transport links. However, car dependency remains high, with 67% of all trips made by car and only 6% by bicycle.
Through its mobility plan, Høje-Taastrup aims to increase cycling’s modal share to 12% by 2030 and 20% by 2050. Recognising that infrastructure alone is not enough to change travel behaviour, the municipality is also investing in innovative mobility solutions and behaviour-change initiatives that encourage healthier, more active and sustainable transport choices.
Organisation role in the consortium
Høje-Taastrup Municipality is one of the follower cities in the Dynamicity project, focusing on behaviour change initiatives that encourage residents to choose cycling over car travel for everyday journeys.
As part of the project, the municipality will test different e-bike loan schemes to identify effective and sustainable approaches for increasing cycling uptake and creating long-term mobility behaviour change. The project will also use digital tools, including mobility tracking apps and wearable sensors, to better understand travel patterns and measure impacts on mobility and health.
Høje-Taastrup will work closely with Edinburgh and other project partners to exchange knowledge, share best practices and support the transition towards healthier, more active and sustainable transport choices.
