The Belgian Road Research Centre (BRRC) is a private research institute serving the public interest, dedicated to advancing road construction and infrastructure management. Its core mission is to promote technical progress through research, innovation, and the dissemination of knowledge to road authorities and industry stakeholders. It supports public administrations and companies by providing technical assistance and expert advice across all aspects of road engineering. The BRRC is active throughout the entire lifecycle of infrastructure projects, from design to maintenance and asset management.
Organisation role in the consortium
Our organisation plays a key operational and methodological role in the field of pedestrian infrastructure assessment in the Brussels-Capital Region. We provide the necessary equipment, including a dedicated mobile application and wheelchairs, to carry out sidewalk inspections, and we ensure the training of field operators. In parallel, we are responsible for the management of the collected GIS data, including technical support, user access management, and data sharing processes. Furthermore, we contribute to the development of a structured data framework, ensuring that the collected information can be efficiently reused by route-planning application developers.
