The University of Glasgow (UofG), Scotland, UK, was founded in 1451 and directly employs over 8,000 staff. It is ranked among the world’s top 100 universities in the QS World University Rankings and is a member of the Russell Group of leading UK research-intensive universities.
The research team brings together expertise from across the University’s College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences and College of Social Sciences. The team previously rigorously developed and evaluated Cycle Nation, a 9-week, multi-component cycling intervention targeting both individual- and social-level influences on cycling.
Organisation role in the consortium
UofG will lead the development of the project evaluation framework (Task 2.6) to support consistent monitoring and evaluation of intervention effectiveness across the demonstrator sites. UofG will lead WP4, analysing and evaluating the effects of interventions on transport and health across the sites and undertaking cross-demonstrator comparisons of health, environmental and societal outcomes. This will support identification of the interventions that are most effective and in different contexts.
UofG will also lead the development of the project-wide ethical framework (WP7), including guidelines and procedures to support the responsible conduct of research across all demonstrator sites.
As a technical partner, UofG will support the lead demonstrator city of Edinburgh to adapt and test the Cycle Nation intervention within the local context (Task 3.2). UofG will also support the follower city of HTK to adapt and test Cycle Nation at a reduced scale.
