Brussels Capital Region

Despite a modernised transport network with calmer streets and better cycling infrastructure, transport still accounts for 25% of regional emissions in 2023, and no route planner yet accounts for pedestrian accessibility, a significant gap for the many EU residents living with a disability.

Brussels will map the accessibility of its pedestrian network (evenness, slope, safe crossings) and feed the results into an accessible route-planning option, co-developed and tested with people with disabilities.
